Mount the virtual USB drive on HPE Synergy Composer2

Prerequisites
  • You have set up a user account to access the Composer2 iLO.

  • You are using either the .NET iLO Integrated Remote Console (iLO IRC) or the Java iLO IRC to mount the USB. HTML5 iLO IRC does not support virtual media features.

  • If using .NET iLO IRC, you have enabled the HTTP protocol and port 80 on your firewall, if any, between the web browser on your system (from where you want to launch the iLO IRC to the Composer2 iLO), and Composer2 iLO.

  • You are using either a USB 2.0 or 3.0 drive that is formatted as an NTFS or FAT32 file system (for support dump) and FAT32 (for reimaging), and has only one partition. If necessary, use a computer to format the USB drive. The USB drive must have enough free space (typically 1 to 4 GB) to store the support dump file. USB drives with a capacity of up to 16 GB are supported. Hewlett Packard Enterprise recommends that you use USB 3.0 for better performance.

Procedure
  1. Insert the USB drive into the laptop.
  2. Log in to Composer2 iLO using a browser.
  3. Launch the .NET iLO IRC or Java iLO IRC.
  4. In the iLO IRC, select Virtual Drives and then select the USB drive to mount.

The iLO IRC will show a new device in the drop-down menu of the Virtual Drives tab.

If a new device is not shown, either the iLO is not detecting the USB drive or the USB drive is not inserted properly. As a result, the USB drive will not be auto mounted.

To resolve this issue, reinsert the USB drive, change the port of the USB drive, or insert a new USB drive, and then select the USB drive.
