Device firmware update process

All of the firmware and drivers for the devices in your environment come packaged together as part of the HPE Synergy Custom SPP. The individual firmware and driver components inside the HPE Synergy Custom SPP are tested and verified to work properly with each other. The HPE Synergy Custom SPP gets added to an HPE OneView firmware repository. HPE OneView uses the contents of the repository to apply firmware and driver updates and monitor version compliance.

HPE OneView firmware and driver update process and options  provides an overview. The right side of the diagram depicts the various devices that are managed by HPE OneView and their related groupings, like logical enclosures and logical interconnects. On the left side, the individual firmware components are packaged together into an HPE Synergy Custom SPP and stored in a HPE OneView firmware repository. The middle portion of the figure represents the various methods of applying the updates, the options that are associated with these methods, and the managed devices these methods apply to. Understanding these methods enable you to make the best choices for your organization.

IMPORTANT:

Whichever method you choose, the end goal must be to ensure compatibility by having all the devices in your HPE Synergy environment running firmware from the same HPE Synergy Custom SPP
