Execute a logical enclosure firmware update
You have added the required firmware bundle in the firmware repository.
Make sure you have read and understand the concepts described in Software and firmware update process and Firmware and driver updates for managed devices.
- From the main menu, select SERVERS > Logical Enclosures.
-
In the master pane, select the logical interconnect and then do
one of the following:
Select Actions > Update firmware.
Select Update firmware from the Firmware panel.
- From Firmware baseline, use the drop-down menu to select the firmware bundle to install. Only firmware bundles of type ServicePack or Custom are listed.
-
From Update firmware for choose which parts of the
infrastructure you want to update. For information about various options, see
Logical enclosure firmware update.
Whether you choose to run multiple smaller updates or one complete update, the goal must always be to have the entire logical enclosure running firmware from the same firmware bundle.
- By default, firmware is only updated on the devices with a firmware version lower than the selected firmware bundle. If you want to override that behavior and update every device regardless of version, select Force re-installation or downgrade.
-
Select the Interconnect activation option. For
information about various options, see Interconnect firmware update activation methods.
A warning message is displayed if the logical enclosure consists of one or more hypervisor profiles when the Shared infrastructure and profiles option is selected along with the Orchestrated activation option.NOTE:
Create or import VMware ESXi clusters in HPE OneView and assign them to cluster profiles to perform rolling updates of hypervisor clusters.
- Click OK.
- After clicking OK, HPE OneView performs an analysis of the requested operation and informs you of any problems or possible service outages as a result of this operation.
-
Once the update begins, you can monitor its progress from the
Logical Enclosure activity panel or the
Appliance activity screen.
IMPORTANT:
Do not add or remove any hardware or perform any device management operations while the update is in progress.
