SSMC deployment as a virtual appliance

SSMC is available only as a virtual appliance starting from SSMC 3.4 release.

The SSMC appliance is a preconfigured virtual machine that runs on Debian Operating System. SSMC appliance packages multiple SSMC services such as advanced analytics and elastic search into a single virtual appliance and reduces the deployment complexity for customers. The SSMC deployment architecture uses the high availability functionality offered by hypervisors and reduces the deployment complexity.

The SSMC appliance removes unnecessary focus to support different environments. For example, Microsoft Windows, Linux, Patches, Antivirus, and Hardening.

The SSMC virtual appliance software is provided in an Open Virtual Format (OVF) for VMware vSphere hypervisor and self-extractable Virtual Hard Disk (VHD) package for Microsoft Hyper-V. The SSMC appliance is supported on Microsoft Hyper-V (Windows Server 2012 R2 or 2016 or 2019) and the VMware vSphere hypervisor (VMware ESXi 6.0 or 6.5 or 6.7 or 7.0).
