Forcing SMTPS transport

SSMC uses non-secure SMTP transport by default. However, when a service user account is specified, SSMC uses start-TLS security to ensure the credentials are submitted securely to the server. SSMC now offers SMTPS, which further enhances secure delivery of email notifications.
Procedure
  1. Set the ssmc.smtps.enabled property to true in ssmc.properties to enable SMTPS.

    ssmc.smtps.enabled=true

  2. Import server certificate to the SSMC SMTP trust store. Follow steps in section Importing a trust certificate for SMTP server in SSMC.
    NOTE:

    This step is mandatory when SSMC operates in the FIPS mode or when ssmc.tls.trustManager.enabled property is set to true in ssmc.properties.

  3. Re-configure SMTP server port values by navigating to Administrator Console > Actions > Preferences > Edit Preferences and also from Primera & 3PAR SSMC > GENERAL > Settings.

    The default SMTPS port for most email servers is 465. If the server requires authentication, then specify the service user credentials. Contact your IT administrator for details about these SMTPS client configuration settings.

  4. Restart the SSMC service to apply the changes, using TUI menu option 2.
