Add firmware to the internal appliance firmware repository

Prerequisites
  • Privileges: Infrastructure administrator, Network administrator, or Server administrator.

  • If you are uploading an Service Pack for ProLiant (SPP), you have downloaded the SPP .iso to your local system.

  • If you are uploading a hotfix, you have already downloaded all the OS variants of the hotfix (.rpm, .exe, and .fwpkg or .zip) as well as all the associated signature (.compsig) files to your local system.

    NOTE:

Signature files are typically required for hotfixes associated with Gen10 or newer servers. Gen9 servers and .iso files do not require signatures. Large hotfixes will have multiple signature files.

  • You have not modified the names of any hotfix or signature files.

Procedure
  1. From the main menu, select APPLIANCE > Firmware Bundles, and then do one of the following:
    • Click + Add Firmware Bundle in the masters pane.

    • Select Actions > Add.

  2. On the Add Firmware Bundle screen, do one of the following:
    • Drag and drop the SPP or hotfix file onto the shaded portion of the screen.

    • Click Browse to select the file that contains a SPP or hotfix.

  3. Click OK to upload the file to the firmware repository. You can click Close to close the dialog window and the upload will continue as a background task within the web application, but do not close your browser or log out until the upload completes. To view the progress of the upload, from the main menu, select APPLIANCE > Firmware Bundles.
  4. If you add any Gen10 hotfixes, a warning message appears to indicate that the signature files are not added. Perform the following steps to upload the Gen10 hotfix signature files.
    1. Click Actions > Upload signature files to upload the .compsig signature files.

This option is displayed only when you select a Gen10 firmware hotfix. Large components require more than one signature file. HPE OneView displays the number of signature files that you must upload on the Add Firmware Bundle page.

    2. Click Browse to select the signature files.
    3. Click OK.

After you upload the signature files, HPE OneView validates the hotfix.

  5. Repeat steps 2 to 4 for each firmware file and all associated signature files.
    NOTE:

If you are uploading an SPP as part of first-time setup configuration tasks, you can proceed with the initial configuration tasks while the firmware upload completes. The upload can take several minutes.

  6. Verify that the firmware files were properly added to the repository by viewing the firmware bundle contents in the Firmware Bundles details pane.

HPE Synergy Service Packs (SSPs) are shown as firmware bundles of type ServicePack, and hotfixes are shown as firmware bundles of type Hotfix.
