Host maintenance mode options for vSAN-enabled hypervisor clusters

The hypervisor cluster profile automatically detects whether the managed ESXi cluster is vSAN-enabled. The profile then uses this data to place the member ESXi hosts in maintenance with a valid data evacuation setting.

The following are the data evacuation modes used for placing the ESXi hosts in maintenance:

• Ensure accessibility mode: This mode is used when the remediation of inconsistencies is initiated on the hypervisor cluster profile that manages vSAN-enabled ESXi cluster.
• Full data migration mode: This mode is used when you perform any one of the following operations on the hypervisor cluster profile:
  • Shrink a cluster by removing a hypervisor from the hypervisor cluster profile.
  • Delete a hypervisor profile.
  • Delete a hypervisor cluster profile.
  • Redeploy an OS on a hypervisor profile.
