Management preferences
The preferences settings are based on the type of hypervisor manager selected. Currently HPE OneView supports only the VMware vCenter hypervisors, and you can set the following settings for vCenter hypervisors.
vSwitch type: Configures virtual switch on a hypervisor with a specified type.
Standard: A virtual switch configured and managed at the hypervisor level; provides networking to virtual machines and VM kernels.
- Distributed: A virtual switch configured and managed at data center level and configured for each hypervisor to provide networking to virtual machines and VM Kernels.
Distributed vSwitch version: Applicable only when vSwitch type is of type distributed. Configures distributed virtual switch with the specified version.
- Use distributed vSwitch for: Applicable only when vSwitch type is Distributed. This specifies which networks should be configured for distributed switches.
General networks: Configures the general purpose networks in the hypervisor cluster profile with distributed virtual switches.
All networks: Configures all the networks in the hypervisor cluster profile with distributed virtual switches. All networks include Management, special purpose and general purpose networks. The special purpose networks comprise VM Migration, iSCSI and Fault Tolerance.
Multi-NIC vMotion: Configures VMware Multi-NIC vMotion on hypervisors when there are multiple NICs to VM Migration network. Enable Multi-NIC vMotion to load balance a single or multiple vMotion transmissions over multiple physical NICs.
Distributed Resource Scheduler: Enable the VMware vSphere Distributed Resource Scheduler (DRS) on a hypervisor cluster to manage workloads for optimal performance. DRS ensures that a VM is allocated the required resources to balance workloads and run optimally.
High Availability: Enable VMware High Availability on a hypervisor cluster to ensure decreased downtime in a virtual environment.
High Availability or Distributed Resource Scheduler settings only enable or disable these features on a hypervisor cluster. The additional settings related to High Availability or Distributed Resource Scheduler can be directly configured using the hypervisor manager.
