Remove a firmware bundle from the firmware repository

You can remove any or all firmware bundles from the firmware repository. Hewlett Packard Enterprise recommends that you have at least one firmware bundle available at all times because a firmware bundle is required when adding resources to the appliance that have versions older than the minimum firmware versions for monitoring or managing. Hewlett Packard Enterprise recommends that you unassign the firmware bundle from all devices to which the firmware bundle is assigned before removing the firmware bundle from the repository.

Prerequisites
  • Privileges: Infrastructure administrator, Network administrator, or Server administrator.

  • There cannot be any managed devices assigned to this firmware bundle that are in a firmware staged state waiting to be activated.

Procedure
  1. From the main menu, select APPLIANCE > Firmware Bundles.
  2. In the master pane, select the firmware bundle to remove.
  3. Select Actions > Remove.
    1. If the firmware bundle is associated with any resources, a message is displayed with the information that removing a firmware bundle will disable firmware updates for the resources associated with it and also, displays the names of the resources. The list can be expanded to view the individual resources.
      NOTE:

If the number of resources associated with the firmware bundle is more than 50, the list cannot be expanded. The list of resources can be viewed using the Map view. Also, the number is a link to the resource screen, filtered to show the list of resources associated with the firmware bundle.

      • Click Yes, remove to remove the firmware bundle.

      • Click Cancel to exit the Remove screen without removing the firmware bundle.

    2. If the firmware bundle is not associated with any resources, click Remove bundle to remove the firmware bundle.

Devices that have the firmware bundle as a firmware baseline still show the baseline but with removed appended to their names. If you download the firmware bundle again, the firmware bundle is restored as the firmware baseline.

  4. Verify that the firmware bundle has been removed from the master pane.
