Add a storage system

Add or import a storage system to bring it under management of the appliance.

When you select a storage system to add or import, HPE OneView displays device-specific configurations to set.

  • To facilitate load balancing among target port assignments for HPE 3PAR StoreServ Storage define multiple port groups that contain the primary and partner ports. For more information on port groups, see "Automatic port group assignment" in the HPE OneView Help.
NOTE:

After you select a domain for a storage system, you cannot select a different domain without removing the storage system and adding it again. An HPE 3PAR StoreServ Storage system can be configured without a domain, in which case, NO DOMAIN is displayed in the Domain field.

Prerequisites
  • Privileges: Infrastructure administrator or Storage administrator.
    NOTE:

    To complete this action, privileges of the user role must not be restricted by scope.

  • Storage system is powered on, configured, and WSAPI service is enabled.

  • For HPE 3PAR StoreServ Storage systems, a minimum user role of Edit is required for all domains of the storage system. The basic_edit role is not sufficient.

Procedure
  1. From the main menu, select STORAGE > Storage Systems, and do one of the following:

    • Click + Add storage system in the master pane.

    • Select Actions > Add.

    NOTE:

    The Actions menu is not present until you add at least one storage system.

  2. Enter the data requested on the screen.
    NOTE:

    You can associate HPE OneView networks or SANs with the storage system ports while adding the storage systems. You can change the network or SAN association at any time.

    You can also select storage pools already configured on the storage system to bring into HPE OneViewas managed pools.

  3. Click Add to complete the action or click Add + to add another storage system.
  4. Verify that the storage system was added in the master pane.
