Volume template creation and provisioning

Volume templates specify properties of a storage volume, such as provisioning (Full or Thin), compression and deduplication. The HPE OneView Volume Templates screen has options to set the provisioning type and volumes to be created using a volume template.

Require template for volume creation

This option prevents volumes from being created without using a volume template. You can still add external volumes without using a template.

Provisioning

You can set the provisioning type for the volume:

  • Full

  • Thin

    Enable deduplication

    You can enable deduplication on volumes that are thin provisioned and meet the storage system requirements.

    Enable compression

    You can enable compression on volumes that are thin provisioned and meet the storage system requirements.
