Subscribed capacity values for storage pools

The subscribed capacity value is the total amount of capacity provisioned to servers for all volumes and snapshots. This value may exceed the total capacity of the pool when it is over-subscribed.

The capacity value works with virtual storage pools to manage the thin provisioning, deduplication, and compression to determine when it is over-subscribed.

Based on this value, storage administrators can place new volumes depending on the capacity of the storage pool.

Some storage system firmware versions or license values do not support calculating subscribed capacity so this value is optionally displayed. The storage administrator can also calculate and report the subscription ratio per pool, which is SubscribedCapacity/TotalCapacity as a value.

NOTE:

The capacity value calculation is optional for certain storage system firmware versions. These values do not support the subscribed capacity calculation.

NOTE:

HPE Primera or HPE 3PAR StoreServ Storage systems may introduce a delay in volume provisioning changes while updating the subscribed capacity value of the storage pool.

Refreshing the storage system and storage pool manually in HPE OneView can speed up the reporting of the subscribed capacity value.
