Rack manager is unreachable

Symptom

HPE OneView is not able to connect to the rack manager with the IP address that was used to add the rack manager. HPE OneView does not fall back to other working IP addresses for communication.

Solution 1
Cause

The rack manager was added using the hostname, and hostname resolves to both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses. However, the IPv4 address is preferred and the rack manager is added using only the IPv4 address. If the IPv4 address is not reachable, HPE OneView does not fall back to the IPv6 address.

Action
  1. Remove the rack manager that is not accessible.
  2. Add the rack manager once again using its working IPv6 address. .

    Do not use the hostname to add the rack manager.

Solution 2
Cause

After the rack manager is added, communication with the rack manager happens through the IP address that was used to add the rack manager. If the IP address is not reachable, HPE OneView does not fall back to the other IP addresses that are associated with the added rack manager.

Action
  1. Remove the rack manager that is not accessible.
  2. Add the rack manager using a working IP address. .
