Types of firmware repositories
The HPE OneView appliance supports two types of repositories:
An internal repository, which comes ready to use with all HPE OneView appliances. With the internal repository, the firmware bundles are uploaded directly onto the HPE OneView appliance. The firmware bundles in an internal repository can only be used to update hardware that is added to that particular appliance.
The internal repository has a fixed size that limits the number of firmware bundles that can be uploaded.
An external repository that requires user configuration. For the external repository, firmware bundles are added to a file system that is served by a web browser.
The web server information is added to HPE OneView as an external repository. Any bundles that you add or remove in the repository are automatically detected and displayed by the HPE OneView appliance. The repository can grow to any size needed and can be shared among multiple HPE OneView appliances.
Hewlett Packard Enterprise recommends removing firmware bundles that are no longer in use.
You can view the firmware bundles that are added to the repository from the Firmware Bundles screen.
You cannot move a custom firmware bundle that is created in an HPE OneView appliance to another HPE OneView appliance.
