Determining the Location of the BOOTP Services

The server blade gets firmware from a BOOTP service. The BOOTP service can reside on the system consoles or on one or two designated CLIMs on the maintenance LAN.

Prerequisites
At least one BOOTP service must be running before the replacement server blade is inserted into the enclosure.
Procedure
  1. To determine the location of the BOOTP services for this system, use the NonStop Maintenance LAN DHCP DNS Configuration Wizard (installed as part of OSM Console Tools, T0634 H06 ABJ or later) on the system consoles to configure the wizard for first-time use, as directed in the NonStop System Console Installer Guide and the online help available in the wizard.
  2. Launch the wizard from the Windows Start menu: All Programs > HPE OSM > NonStop Maintenance LAN DHCP DNS Configuration Wizard.

In the welcome dialog box, view the Configuration Type field. If it displays CLIM, then the service resides on the indicated CLIMs. If it displays NSC, then the service resides on the system consoles.

For more information on using a wizard, see the online help available from within the wizard.

If one or more CLIMs are configured for BOOTP, at least one of those CLIMs must be available before the replacement server blade is inserted into the enclosure.

NOTE:

The CLIMs configured for BOOTP are not necessarily connected to the system being serviced; any CLIM connected to the maintenance LAN may be configured to provide BOOTP service for all systems connected to that LAN.

If no CLIMs are configured for BOOTP, at least one of the system consoles must be available before the replacement server blade is inserted into the enclosure.
