Inclusive, ethical, and responsible use of data

Unlocking the value of your data, protecting and unifying it no matter where it lives, makes it more valuable. As HPE helps organizations to unlock insights from their data, we understand that the inclusive, ethical, and responsible use of data is essential.

AI ethics and principles

At HPE, we are developing trustworthy AI, where accuracy, equity, sustainability, privacy, compliance, and confidence are engineered from edge to cloud. HPE strives toward achieving ethical confidence across industries and is working to prevent misuse; from data theft, to unreliable and biased content, to cyberattacks.

Responsible use of data

Your data is your business

Your data is your business, literally, and protecting what you entrust to HPE is of vital importance to us. Your personal data is stored on computer systems locked in controlled facilities which have highly restricted access. At HPE, sensitive information transmission is protected via encryption, and once we no longer have a purpose to have the information, we only keep personal data as long as is required to comply with a legal or regulatory obligation. Your data, when no longer required, is deleted from our systems and records, and steps are also taken to anonymize it.

Customers retain ownership of their data, always

Our customers retain ownership of their data, always. HPE does not sell, rent, or lease personal data to others except as detailed in our Privacy Statement. We collect personal data only if required to:

  • provide our products or services
  • fulfil our legitimate business purposes
  • comply with applicable laws and regulations

Built on industry standards and best practices

All systems used to support HPE’s business are governed by HPE’s corporate cybersecurity policies, which are built upon industry standards and best practices like the ISO 27000 family, NIST standards and the applicable data protection laws of other countries in which we operate.

Corporate social responsibility

Our purpose at HPE is to advance the way people live and work. We’re dedicated to offering sustainable solutions and services that can help customers and partners advance toward their climate goals and achieve their own net zero and social impact commitments during their business transformations.

ESG and sustainability

As the first IT company to set science-based targets across its value chain aligned to the goals of the Paris climate accord, we recognize the imperative to minimize our industry’s environmental footprint and the opportunity to enable a low-carbon economy.

Accelerating net zero

HPE is committed to becoming net-zero across the entire value chain—including the use of HPE products—by 2040. Our roadmap to get there requires a fundamental transformation in everything we do.
