HPE Deinstallation Service provides basic deinstallation of HPE equipment as well as HPE supported products from other vendors that are sold by HPE or by HPE authorized resellers. The HPE Deinstallation Service is part of a suite of HPE Lifecycle Services that is designed to give you the peace of mind that comes from knowing your products have been deinstalled by an HPE specialist in accordance with the manufacturer’s product documentation.

Service planning

An HPE service specialist (in the case of an implementation service, the service specialist will be replaced with a project manager) will plan all the necessary activities, including the identification of any prerequisites, and schedule the delivery of the service at a time mutually agreed upon by Hewlett Packard Enterprise and the Customer, which shall be during local HPE standard business hours excluding HPE holidays, unless otherwise agreed by HPE. Any services provided outside of HPE standard business hours may be subject to additional charges.

Service deployment

An HPE service specialist will deinstall HPE or another manufacturer’s products in an HPE supported or third party — supported environment.

Once the Customer has removed the device from service, the HPE specialist may perform one or more of the following:

  • Power down
    • Disconnect the power and network
  • Deinstall the hardware, which may include the following activities:
    • Deinstall the necessary cables
    • Remove racking hardware (supporting rails, cable management hardware, and such)
    • Physically disconnect equipment from a LAN or WAN, as appropriate
    • Deinstall selected HPE supplied service tools
  • Move deinstalled equipment to an agreed-upon Customer-designated location on the same floor within close proximity to the deinstallation location
    • Assemble the deinstalled equipment in one location for removal by the Customer or by HPE through an equipment disposition service
    • Notify the Customer that the deinstalled products are ready for removal
    • Package (if packing materials are provided by the Customer or purchased by the Customer) deinstalled equipment for shipment or storage
  • Complete notification to the Customer
    • Review deinstallation tasks with the Customer
  • Coverage

    This service is available on standard office days or weekend days excluding HPE holidays during HPE standard business hours or after hours as specified in the service description.

  • Customer responsibilities

    The Customer will:

    • Contact HPE within 90 days of the date of purchase to schedule this service
    • Ensure that all service prerequisites, as identified during service planning, have been met
    • Provide packaging and place the equipment in the immediate location where the deinstallation will take place, if applicable
    • Allow HPE full and unrestricted access to all locations where the service is to be performed
    • Assign a designated person from the Customer’s staff who, on behalf of the Customer, will grant all approvals and provide information necessary in order to deliver this service
    • Adhere to licensing terms and conditions regarding the use of any HPE service tools used to facilitate the delivery of this service, if applicable
    • Be responsible for all data backup and restore operations
    • Make available any required safety equipment or special requirements
  • Service limitations

    Activities such as, but not limited to, the following are excluded from this service:

    • Resolution of hardware-related problems encountered during the deinstallation service
    • Deinstallation of racking configurations with densely populated cables and/or servers that will require additional time consideration and may require a custom scope of work
    • Planning, design, or assessment of the Customer’s computing environment, except to identify service prerequisites for the product being deinstalled
    • Services that, in the opinion of HPE, are required due to unauthorized attempts by third-party personnel to install, repair, maintain, or modify hardware, firmware, or software
    • Site inspection activities such as a comprehensive analysis of the Customer facility’s power, cooling and humidity, airborne contaminant, and vibration levels
    • Reinstallation of hardware or software products as part of basic hardware deinstallation
    • Any services not clearly specified in this document
    • Additional travel charges may apply in some geographic locations
  • General provisions / other exclusions

    To the extent HPE process personal data on the Customer’s behalf in the course of providing services, the HPE Data Privacy and Security Agreement Schedule — HPE Support and Professional Services found at hpe.com/us/en/legal/customer-privacy.html shall apply.

    • HPE reserves the right to reprice this service if the Customer does not schedule and provide for subsequent delivery within 90 days of purchase.
    • This service expires one year from the date of purchase.
    • HPE reserves the right to charge, on a time-and-materials basis, for any additional work over and above the quoted service pricing that may result from work required to address service prerequisites or other requirements not met by the Customer.
    • Any services provided outside of HPE standard business hours may be subject to additional charges.
    • HPE’s ability to deliver this service is dependent upon the Customer’s full and timely cooperation with HPE, as well as the accuracy and completeness of any information and data the Customer provides to HPE.
    • This service does not include product disposal. Product disposal is a separate service.
    • Packaging materials are not included and are a separate service. The packaging materials should provide adequate protection for equipment being shipped. HPE is not responsible for equipment shipped in improperly sized or damaged packaging.
    • Relocation and installation are separate services.
    • Data sanitization or material destruction to physically render disk drive options unreadable or unusable are separate services.
    • Additional quantities of the service should be purchased for events requiring more than one HPE specialist if the product to be deinstalled is larger than what is recommended or the size and/or weight limitations are exceeded based on HPE policy or the manufacturers’ recommendations.
    • This service excludes deinstallation of any product covered by an extended warranty or leasing or rental agreement terms and conditions that require certification or recertification of maintainability after deinstallation has occurred.
    • Deinstalled products must conform to the HPE policy standards regarding size and weight limitations.

    HPE will be responsible for the following tasks:

    • Arrive at the designated time, confirm that the equipment is not in use, perform a shutdown of the equipment, and inform the Customer that the deinstallation has commenced
    • Coordinate with the local site contact to disconnect the power and network connections
    • Move the deinstalled equipment to an agreed-upon Customer-designated location on the same floor within close proximity to the deinstallation location
    • Inform the Customer that the deinstallation is complete
  • Supplemental terms

    The following supplemental terms apply to these services and take precedence in the event of any conflict:

    • Upon receipt of an acceptable order, HPE will contact the Customer within seven (7) business days to organize a service delivery date. Service delivery dates are subject to resource availability and may be scheduled up to 30 days from the order acceptance date.
    • The Customer must schedule and receive delivery of these services within 180 days from order acceptance. HPE reserves the right to reprice for services not scheduled and delivered within 180 days. Backorders or shipment delays may affect the delivery timeline. Orders for services will expire after 365 days (one year) from the order acceptance date for services not scheduled and delivered, and the Customer will not be entitled to a refund for the unused services.
