Service overview

HPE Alletra dHCI/HPE PCBE with Alletra MP Startup Services provide a choice of installation options to meet your business needs and budget. There are several delivery services to choose from. These range from full deployment to individualized add-on options, which allow you to customize services to meet the unique requirements of your business.


HPE Alletra dHCI Base Deployment Service (HA124A1#5WX)—This installation service fully deploys your new HPE Alletra dHCI solution (greenfield)/HPE PCBE with Alletra MP. This service includes the installation of a single array (including up to six shelves), along with two HPE ProLiant servers and two HPE supported top-of-rack network switches. HPE service delivery teams will install the new hardware, and then enable the networking, management, and data functions for the array, servers, and switches. They will also configure datastores as needed. This service can be extended to include the deployment of additional servers by ordering the following product number once for each additional server required (beyond the two included): HB983A1—HPE Installation CommServer Hourly Service. Equivalent Remote delivery SKU is HPE Nimb Stor dHCI/HPE PCBE with Alletra MP Base Depl Remote SVC (HA124A1#V23).


HPE Alletra dHCI Expansion Deployment Service (HA124A1#V0T)—This installation service is intended to be used when deploying into an environment where existing switch infrastructure or existing HPE ProLiant servers are leveraged (brownfield). HPE service delivery teams deploy your HPE Alletra dHCI/HPE PCBE with Alletra MP solution with a customized approach. This installation service includes a single array (including up to six shelves), along with two HPE ProLiant servers and two HPE supported top-of-rack network switches. Additional new servers beyond the configuration of two HPE ProLiant servers can be added by ordering the following service product number once for each additional server: HB983A1—HPE Installation CommServer Hourly Service. Preexisting Customer servers requiring reimaging and reloading of supported software can be added to the installation by ordering the following service product number once for each server to be reconfigured: H29BSA1—HPE Storage Servers Install Hourly Service. HPE network configuration services can be added as needed for the deployment with the following SKUs:

HPE Alletra dHCI/HPE PCBE with Alletra MP Server Add-on Startup Service (HA124A1#V08)—This service provides the deployment of a single additional server into your existing dHCI/PCBE environment. That includes server installation and software configuration for the server to be fully functional in your dHCI/PCBE environment (datastore configuration included). This service can be selected for both new and/or preexisting HPE ProLiant server deployments (brownfield and/or greenfield). This service cannot be extended, only incremented in accordance with the number of servers to be added.


HPE Alletra dHCI Hardware Installation Service (HP7E2A1)—This installation service delivers the hardware racking, cabling, and power testing for a single array (including up to six shelves), along with up to two new HPE ProLiant servers and two new HPE supported top-of-rack network switches. This service does not include any HPE Nimble Storage, server, switch, or HPE Morpheus VM Essentials Software installation or configuration. This service can be extended to include the hardware installation of additional servers by ordering the following service product number once for each server over the basic configuration: HB983A1—HPE Installation CommServer Hourly Service.

  • Service eligibility

    Customers must meet the prerequisites required for this service, including but not limited to:

    • If the Customer wishes to have volumes as part of the full HPE Alletra dHCI HPE PCBE with Alletra MP deployment service created by the HPE authorized installation specialist (up to eight), then the design must be supplied. Advanced or customized storage volume design or the replication of volumes is not part of this service.
    • Eligible hosts that can be connected to the HPE Alletra dHCI HPE PCBE with Alletra MP array environment are limited to VM Essentials only as defined in the product QuickSpecs.
    • A suitable physical operating environment must be provided, including implementation of any environmental recommendations made by Hewlett Packard Enterprise prior to installation.
    • An Ethernet/IP infrastructure must be installed, configured, and operated normally as defined in the pre-installation workbook and/or the predeployment checklist prior to installation.
    • The network topology must be supported by the HPE Alletra dHCI/HPE PCBE with Alletra MP from a design and performance perspective as defined in the product manual.
    • Where hosts at remote sites are being configured, connectivity must be functional between the locations at the time of installation.
  • Service limitations

    Activities such as, but not limited to, the following are excluded from this service:

    • Any services not clearly specified in this document.
    • Deliverables for services in this document are limited to those deliverables as defined in Table 1 for a single dHCI configuration.
    • The HPE Alletra dHCI/HPE PCBE with Alletra MP Base Deployment Service (greenfield) is only available for orders containing all new hardware and cannot be ordered and used for deployments using Customer pre-owned equipment or expansion hardware purchased through HPE.
    • The HPE Alletra dHCI/HPE PCBE with Alletra MP Expansion Deployment Service does not include the configuration of the Customer’s preexisting network switches without the purchase of additional network services as documented in the ordering section below.
    • Application integration or integration of third-party products or peripherals not included with the system.
    • Backup, recovery, and support of the operating system, other software, and data.
    • Installation and configuration of any third-party storage hardware, servers, switches, routers, network gateways, and so on.
    • Laying of any cable beyond the required internal array cables and external cables to interconnect the solution components as needed and indicated by the deliverables in Table 1.
    • Installation, configuration, or provisioning of any external SANs the Customer is using for data storage.
    • Analysis and/or reconfiguration of the existing environment to improve performance or robustness.
    • Operational testing of applications or additional tests requested or required by the Customer.
    • Planning, design, or implementation of the Customer’s overall SAN fabric, or IP Ethernet architecture.
    • Implementation of hardware and software products other than those specified in this document, including the Customer’s pre-owned servers, applications, database, storage, SAN, and network not attached to the dHCI/PCBE solution.
    • HPE’s ability to deliver this service is dependent upon the Customer’s full and timely cooperation with HPE, as well as the accuracy and completeness of any information and data the Customer provides to HPE.
    • Services that, in the opinion of Hewlett Packard Enterprise, are required due to unauthorized attempts by third-party personnel to install, repair, maintain, or modify hardware, firmware, or software.
    • Any upgrade of the HPE NimbleOS is conditioned upon the Customer having a valid HPE support contract and HPE NimbleOS release appropriate for the upgrade.
    • Activities are delivered during HPE local standard business hours unless additional services have been purchased or special arrangements have been made.
  • Customer responsibilities

    The Customer will:

    • Contact an HPE authorized installation specialist to schedule and provide for the delivery of the service within 90 days of purchase.
    • Allow the HPE authorized installation specialist full and unrestricted access to all locations where the service is to be performed.
    • Be responsible for all data backup and restore operations.
    • Assign a designated person from the Customer’s staff who, on behalf of the Customer, will grant all approvals; provide information; ensure that all hardware, firmware, and software that the HPE authorized installation specialist will need to deliver this service are available and that software products are properly licensed; and otherwise, be available to assist in facilitating the delivery of this service.
    • Ensure that all service prerequisites as defined in the pre-installation workbook have been met prior to the HPE authorized engineers arriving on-site.
    • Provide a suitable Customer-supplied rack that the HPE PCBE with Alletra MP/Alletra dHCI can be installed into if not included in the hardware order.
    • Perform final interconnection of any configured switches onto the Customer’s network.
    • Be responsible for cable runs under floorboards or above rack-mounted cable trays. c
    • For the HPE Alletra dHCI/HPE PCBE with Alletra MP Expansion Deployment Service, the Customer will be responsible for network configuration and cabling of preexisting switches in the Customer data center to be used in the dHCI/PCBE environment.
    • For the server add-on service, the Customer will be responsible for the server IP configuration and final interconnection onto the Customer’s IP network.
  • General provisions/other exclusions

    Customer acknowledges and agrees that HPE may use resources outside the country of purchase for delivery of these services unless otherwise specified as part of a service feature description.

    • HPE reserves the right to reprice this service if the Customer does not schedule and provide for subsequent delivery within 90 days of purchase.
    • HPE reserves the right to charge, on a time-and-materials basis, for any additional work over and above the service package pricing that may result from work required to address service prerequisites or other requirements that are not met by the Customer.
    • Defective hardware, as identified during the installation, will be replaced or repaired under the original vendor warranty terms for products supplied and supported by HPE. Such hardware replacement or repair will not be covered under the terms of this service.
    • Portions of the service may be delivered remotely or on-site, at HPE’s discretion.
    • The service is delivered as a single contiguous event. Environments that require multiple engagements over a longer period of time are not eligible for this service, but appropriate services for such environments are available at additional cost.
    • To find out whether a specific location is eligible for this service, check with a local HPE authorized representative.
    • Travel charges may apply in some geographic locations. Contact a local HPE representative for details.
    • Customer acknowledges and agrees that HPE may use resources outside the country of purchase for delivery of these services unless otherwise specified as part of a service feature description.
  • Supplemental terms

    The following supplemental terms apply to these services and take precedence in the event of any conflict:

    • Upon receipt of an acceptable order, HPE will contact the Customer within seven business days to organize a service delivery date.
    • Service delivery dates are subject to resource availability and may be scheduled up to 30 days from the order acceptance date.
    • The Customer must schedule and receive delivery of these services within 90 days from order acceptance.
    • HPE reserves the right to reprice for services not scheduled and delivered within 180 days.
    • Backorders or shipment delays may affect the delivery timeline.
    • Orders for services will expire after 365 days (one year) from the order acceptance date for services not scheduled and delivered, and the Customer will not be entitled to a refund for the unused services.
  • Ordering information

    HA124A1#5WX—HPE Alletra dHCI/HPE PCBE with Alletra MP Base Deployment Service/HA124A1#V23—HPE Nimb Stor dHCI/ HPE PCBE with Alletra MP Base Depl Remote SVC—Add-on options:

    • HB983A1: HPE Installation CommServer Hourly Service—Order this service when new servers beyond the basic configuration of two new HPE ProLiant servers needs to be added to the installation. Increment the service quantity to match the number of servers to be added.

    Important: This primary service (HA124A1#5WX) and the add-on services herein are for new deployments only. If there are existing components (servers or switches) that need to be included in the deployment, then please use HA124A1#V0T—HPE Alletra dHCI/ HPE PCBE with Alletra MP Expansion Deployment Service and the add-on services offered therein.


    HA124A1#VZY—HPE Alletra dHCI FE Deploy SVC—Hardware will be factory expressed at HPE, you will need to order SKU (find from PM) for a factory express service in order to utilize this SKU for your deployment.

    HA124A1#V0T—HPE Alletra dHCI/HPE PCBE with Alletra MP Expansion Deployment Service/HA124A1#V24—HPE Nimb Stor dHCI Expan Depl Remote SVC—Add-on options:

    • HB983A1: HPE Installation CommServer Hourly Service—Order this service when new servers beyond the basic configuration of two new supported HPE ProLiant servers needs to be added to the installation. Increment the service quantity to match the number of servers to be added.
    • H29BSA1: HPE Storage Servers Install Hourly Service—Order this service if the Customer has preexisting supported HPE ProLiant servers which require reimaging and reloading of supported software to be added to the HPE Alletra dHCI/HPE PCBE with Alletra MP environment.     HA124A1#V08—HPE Alletra dHCI/HPE PCBE with Alletra MP Server Add-on Startup Service

    This service is to be used when deploying a new or preexisting supported HPE ProLiant server into an existing HPE Alletra dHCI/HPE PCBE with Alletra MP environment.


    This service is not to be used to deploy arrays or switches into the environment. See Table 1 under the column “HPE Alletra dHCI/HPE PCBE with Alletra MP Server Add-on Startup Service (HA124A1#V08)” for details on what is and is not included in this service.


    HP7E2A1—HPE Alletra dHCI/HPE PCBE with Alletra MP Hardware Installation Service

    This service is to be used when physical racking, cabling, and powering of equipment is desired. A qualified HPE service technician will be dispatched to rack the gear, cable it in accordance with best practices, and then connect power to help ensure the devices in the environment power on. This service does not include software or firmware configuration of any kind. It is only physical in nature.


    Important: This service (HP7E2A1) is not to be used when a full deployment and configuration is desired. The base (HA124A1#5WX) or expansion (HA124A1#V0T) service options should be used for that.
