Heuristic review
Heuristic Review is a systematic process where a product or service is evaluated against a predefined set of 'heuristics', which can be considered as best practices or general guiding principles. This method aids in pinpointing areas where the product could easily improve.
The primary goal of a Heuristic Review is to ensure that even the most innovative products do not overlook well-established standards or areas of concern. It helps maintain a balance between groundbreaking ideas and tried-and-true principles, ensuring the end product is both innovative and user-friendly. This method can significantly contribute to enhancing the overall user experience and the product's effectiveness.

- Prepare the design or product to be reviewed. If it's a process or workflow, represent each step on a sticky note.
- Establish the set of heuristics or principles against which the design will be evaluated.
- Review the design, noting any potential issues or violations of the heuristics. Write each observation on a separate sticky note and place it next to the corresponding step or feature.
- After the review, discuss and prioritize the identified issues.
- Helps identify potential usability issues.
- Promotes adherence to established usability principles.
- Provides a structured approach to design evaluation.
- Consider using a set of recognized heuristics, such as Nielsen's 10 usability heuristics.
- Use different colored sticky notes for different types of issues or heuristics.
- This method is often used after a design or prototype has been created.
