Executive Biography

Terry Morris

HPE Fellow/VP HPC OCTO, Hewlett Packard Labs Hewlett Packard Enterprise

Terry Morris plays a key role in defining and driving industry interconnects by serving as a Director on the CXL Consortium Board and in key roles in other industry interconnect consortia. His present focus is utilizing industry consortia to provide the next generation of high-bandwidth, low-latency system interconnections as required by emerging architectures in HPC, InMemory Data Solutions, and next-generation server businesses.

Terry joined HP as a system signal integrity engineer as part of the 1996 acquisition of Convex Computer Corporation, where he helped develop the first 32-processor PA-RISC system featuring a large remote memory with high-bandwidth connections to all processors. He also set up the first Systems Engineering Team at Convex, managing technical risk for complex HPC products. In HP, he worked in the Business Critical Systems team, helping to bring the first SuperDome systems to market and covering disciplines ranging from system architecture to power to high-performance interconnections.

Terry currently holds 83 granted US patents, as well as an equivalent number of published patent applications and foreign patents in areas of photonics, signal integrity, interconnects, and power control. He has served on the Board of Directors of the MIT Microphotonics Consortium, as well as chairing DesignCon and speaking at multiple conferences.

HPE has a vibrant technical career path that allows participants to remain technical contributors at levels equivalent to the management path via a nomination and review process. Terry chairs one of these review boards and coaches upcoming technologists through the career development and nomination process. He also champions early-career female technologists and has been nominated for awards in this area by the Optical Society.
