Last November, when HPE announced our acquisition of BlueData, we added a leading software platform that transforms how enterprises deploy AI and big data analytics.

We also gained one of the brightest minds in the business, BlueData’s co-founder and CEO, Kumar Sreekanti. And today, I’m excited to announce that Kumar has accepted the position of chief technology officer (CTO) for Hybrid IT (HIT), reporting to me, effective August 1.

As HIT CTO, Kumar will manage the office accountable for HIT’s technology strategy and future roadmap to deliver superior customer experiences at superior economics, with a distinct focus on software-defined experiences and consumption-driven models. He will partner closely with our HIT Business Units and Software R&D group to ensure we consistently drive our customers’ most important business outcomes at the best value for any workload.

Undoubtedly, Kumar is the right person for the job – and at an ideal time in the evolution of our business. Our growth in the past year has been astounding, and bringing Kumar onto our leadership team will help us further our momentum and broaden our innovation roadmap as we deliver on the promise of Hybrid IT.

Kumar brings nearly three decades of engineering and technology R&D experience to the role. Prior to forming BlueData, Kumar was vice president of R&D at VMware where he was responsible for new technology innovations such as VSAN, Virtual Volumes, and Virtual Flash. Earlier in his career, Kumar held senior technical and engineering management positions with Akamai Technologies, Adaptec, Mylex, and Seagate.

Please join me in welcoming Kumar as HIT’s CTO, and I know you share my enthusiasm for the role he will play in ensuring we always place customer requirements and preferences at the center of what we do.

All the best,

Phil
