AI has introduced the biggest technology disruption in a generation, driving a new industrial revolution that will require organizations to re-think their IT strategies and re-tool their IT estates.

That’s why I was delighted to host AI Day at HPE’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Wisconsin – one of the largest direct liquid cooling factories in the world, where we design and build the most complex AI systems. I wanted those in attendance to see for themselves the incredible capabilities and expertise housed here. They differentiate HPE in the AI market and bring our strategy to life.

Our 100% fanless direct liquid cooling architecture is important as the energy and cost requirements of GenAI escalate. Our architecture increases energy efficiency and reduces costs versus others’ direct liquid cooling solutions.

At our event today, HPE introduced the industry’s first system architecture that uses only liquid cooling for large scale servers. Our 100% fanless direct liquid cooling architecture is important as the energy and cost requirements of GenAI escalate. Our architecture increases energy efficiency and reduces costs versus others’ direct liquid cooling solutions.

HPE has decades of experience in designing, manufacturing, operating and servicing frontier-class systems, leveraging liquid cooling. In fact, our manufacturing sites include 18,000 tons of chilled water liquid cooling.

The sophisticated AI systems we manufacture in Wisconsin are just one part of our leading AI capabilities, created through a very intentional strategy to align our solutions to powerful industry trends. We have deliberately created a comprehensive portfolio that comprises the critical building blocks to unlock the promise of AI.

HPE delivers the infrastructure building blocks for AI

The distributed nature of AI data requires a secure modern networking foundation to connect pools of data for training and inferencing. This means deploying AI at scale will require a massive step change in the network architecture.

With the pending acquisition of Juniper Networks, HPE will complete a modern, full-stack networking portfolio of unique IP – featuring an industry-leading secure, AI-native network, purpose-built with AI and for AI.

We will leverage this innovation as the core foundation to deliver fully integrated hybrid cloud and AI solutions.

AI is a data-intensive hybrid workload. Enterprises must maintain data governance, compliance and security, making private clouds an essential component of the hybrid IT mix that is foundational to running AI.

HPE has redefined the hybrid cloud space with the HPE GreenLake cloud, which delivers a unified cloud-native experience that is hybrid by design. It offers complete, industry-leading, software-defined and cloud-native infrastructure, software, and services to nearly 37,000 unique customers. Increasing AI adoption will accelerate our leadership in hybrid cloud and enable us to grow our GreenLake cloud platform and develop more HPE IP, software and services.

Tailored solutions across customer segments

From hyperscalers and model builders, to service providers, to sovereigns, to enterprises, customers have varying requirements of AI, and HPE is uniquely positioned to address them.

Hyperscalers and model builders are training large language AI models on their own infrastructure, with the most powerful, complex, bespoke systems involving thousands of GPUs. The large systems required for training models with enormous data sets and model parameters have to be direct liquid cooled to reliably run at massive scale. Producing systems of this class requires different manufacturing expertise, which HPE has at scale, cultivated over decades. These customers also need data storage infrastructure and advanced networking connectivity like our direct liquid cooled Slingshot fabric.

Service providers need similarly complex and large-scale systems but are providing the infrastructure for AI model training or fine-tuning to their customers. They need to be able to provide the latest technology, deploy it quickly, to run reliably, and to be cost competitive.  Our complete portfolio, and our track record in deploying AI infrastructure at scale, reduces risk and improves time to market for service providers. We also support service providers with a rich set of services capabilities, such as managing infrastructure on behalf of our customers and delivering infrastructure in modular data centers to accelerate deployments.

Sovereigns are building AI clouds to support government and private AI initiatives. They are embracing AI technology for national competitiveness and security. We participate in this market with both our AI systems at scale and our supercomputing systems, while our hybrid-cloud approach helps these customers address their compliance and regulatory expectations and direct liquid cooling ensures they minimize their carbon footprint. By taking advantage of HPE’s expertise and international capabilities, sovereign customers can devote their talents to data science, model development, and scientific research.

Enterprise AI is moving from experimentation to adoption and is ramping quickly. The enterprise customer priority is to drive business productivity and time to value. As a result, these customers put a premium on simplicity of the experience and ease of adoption.

We are addressing these enterprise segment needs through a unique partnership with NVIDIA. This summer, we jointly announced NVIDIA AI Computing by HPE, a portfolio of co-developed AI solutions and joint go-to-market integrations. Central to this offering is HPE Private Cloud AI, a full turnkey private cloud stack, that makes it easy for enterprises of all sizes to develop and deploy generative AI applications. With three clicks and less than 30 seconds to deploy, HPE Private Cloud AI integrates NVIDIA accelerated computing, networking and AI software with HPE’s AI servers, storage, and cloud services delivered through our HPE GreenLake Cloud.

HPE’s unique, compelling AI value proposition

For decades, HPE has been at the forefront of innovation. We are again accelerating what comes next from a place of strength.

Our innovation and expertise in designing, manufacturing, installing, and servicing AI systems set us apart. And as enterprise customers increase their adoption of AI, they will seek a partner with a proven track record and a portfolio that delivers simplicity and performance.

Through breakthrough organic innovation, targeted strategic acquisitions, and key partnerships, HPE has transformed itself to become the AI solution partner that stands apart.

The AI future has arrived. It has brought with it limitless possibility. As we help customers embrace this new era, the opportunity for HPE to continue our momentum and bolster our competitive edge is significant. I can’t wait to see what we do next.
