HPE Channel to provide customers with hypervisor choice and a gateway to a hybrid cloud operating model

  • Providing customers with choice and a gateway to a hybrid cloud operating model—with acceleration from a strong partner ecosystem and channel-only strategy
  • HPE now offering HPE VM Essentials Software as a compelling virtualization solution as standalone software and/or with the full Morpheus stack for full hybrid and multicloud management—now available globally in all regions
  • HPE VM Essentials is now supported on HPE ProLiant Compute Gen12 servers

At HPE, our strategy has always been rooted in a customer-first, partner-led approach. Delivering optimal business outcomes requires engaging the right people at the right time to implement best-fit solutions. This philosophy extends to transforming virtualized infrastructure with HPE VM Essentials Software, now driven exclusively through a channel-only route-to-market strategy.

HPE VM Essentials enables customers to manage VMs deployed across both existing VMware hypervisors and the HPE VM Essentials hypervisor (KVM-based). This approach allows our channel partners to guide customers toward a more open and flexible virtualization future. For both HPE and our partners, HPE VM Essentials represents a significant new market opportunity, helping customers adapt to evolving virtualization strategies while enabling partners to offer value-added services that strengthen customer relationships.

With the support of HPE ProLiant Compute Gen11 and our newly announced Gen12 servers along with socket-based pricing for HPE VM Essentials, customers can experience reduced costs and complexity in virtualized environments. HPE is also expanding HPE VM Essentials support across HPE's portfolio and expects to extend this to third-party systems.

“The launch of HPE VM Essentials is a significant step in addressing the evolving needs of customers seeking cost-effective virtualization alternatives. By delivering a solution that prioritizes essential features and functionality at an extremely competitive price, HPE not only meets customer demands but also reinforces its commitment to the channel by empowering partners in the delivery of its standalone solution.“

Expanding partner opportunities with a channel-only sales motion

This channel-only model demonstrates our commitment to our partner ecosystem. Working with partners, we are leveraging existing relationships where customers can take advantage of existing investments, expand options with new hypervisor choices, and continue to reclaim control of their IT budgets. The strategy also enables partners to:

  • Provide choice to customers, with the flexibility of alternative virtualization solutions from a credible vendor and socket-based pricing
  • Build value-added services around the offering that strengthens their customer relationships.
  • Provide lower total cost of ownership to support customers as they seek cost-effective virtualization alternatives.

“A ‘Channel-only’ sales motion for the standalone HPE VM Essentials Software capitalizes on the excitement of partners and the opportunity in the virtualization market, by providing customer choice and reduced total cost of ownership.  It also reinforces the criticality of our channel and partner ecosystem to the success of bringing HPE’s edge-to-cloud strategy to life.”

Announcing global availability of HPE VM Essentials through the channel

Continuing the momentum started in December at HPE’s Discover event in Barcelona, we are pleased to expand availability of HPE VM Essentials from the U.S. to the rest of the world as part of this channel-only motion.

Interest from customers and partners since the initial announcement has been overwhelmingly positive as they are facing ongoing challenges, such as:

  • Unplanned cost increases in virtualization due to CPU core-based pricing and changes in product packaging.
  • Need for lower-cost virtualization options that include enterprise-level support and access to partner services.
  • Runtime options from other vendors which trade one lock-in for another or fail to integrate with existing environments.

HPE VM Essentials addresses these pain points by offering predictable, socket-based pricing, integration into VMware and our VM hypervisor, and a path to hybrid cloud simplicity with upgradeability to the Morpheus cloud management solution. HPE VM Essentials has a built-in hypervisor based on Linux KVM and includes capabilities like:

  • Simple VM provisioning with integration into external IP address management and DNS tools and task automation
  • High availability and integrated data protection including VM snapshots, native backup, and planned integration into third-party backup.
  • Advanced cluster management and features such as VM live migration, storage live migration, and VMware to HPE VM Essentials image conversion.
  • Access to Hewlett Packard Enterprise's global support network and robust ISV ecosystem.
