SEOUL, South Korea – September 28, 2021 – Hewlett Packard Enterprise (NYSE: HPE) today announced that it has been selected by SK Inc. C&C in South Korea to transform its internal virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) system to a new cloud service, delivered through the HPE GreenLake edge-to-cloud platform. SK Inc. C&C decided to switch to the HPE GreenLake platform to speed up response times and performance for users, minimize downtime and reduce costs. SK Inc. C&C chose HPE SimpliVity hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) to support the VDI solution, delivered through the HPE GreenLake platform, and enable a hybrid workplace for its employees.
SK Inc. C&C is a system integrator and service provider within SK Group, the largest conglomerate in South Korea. The service provider delivers IT services to the subsidiary companies across SK Group. Through this project SK Inc. C&C was seeking to improve service and the user experience for its own employees and provide a managed desktop cloud service for other SK Group subsidiaries and affiliates, as well as for customers.
"SK Inc. C&C was looking to expand its business and offer new enterprise-level high-availability services in areas such as ERP and VDI services for manufacturing and financial sectors, and therefore wanted to upgrade the VDI infrastructure and create new private cloud services,” said Joong-shik Yoon, Head of Cloud Group, SK Inc. C&C. “The cloud service delivered by HPE GreenLake, based on its market-leading, intelligent HCI solution, provides simplicity, scalability, reliability, speed, and built-in recovery, giving us confidence in our new offerings.”
“The cloud service delivered by HPE GreenLake, based on its market-leading, intelligent HCI solution, provides simplicity, scalability, reliability, speed, and built-in recovery, giving us confidence in our new offerings.”
By choosing HPE SimpliVity, SK Inc. C&C was able to easily tailor the VDI solution with different configurations and billing options to meet the needs of different users and operating departments. In addition, backup and recovery services, which were commonly charged separately, are now provided as an integral part of the HPE SimpliVity solution, and consequently SK Inc. C&C expects to be able to reduce costs by more than 30% compared to the prior service.
The HPE GreenLake platform also provides more choices of customized billing methods and reports for SK Group and is very easy to manage as their users can check metering and billing information in real time through HPE GreenLake Central.
"We are very happy to be able to join SK Inc. C&C's digital transformation journey,” said Seung Kook Lee general manager and director, HPE Pointnext Technology Services at HPE Korea. “This VDI project with SK Inc. C&C is particularly meaningful for HPE as it is one of the largest cloud transition projects using HPE GreenLake and HPE SimpliVity. Through the cloud VDI environment that we have established, we will actively work together to help SK Inc. C&C expand and grow its cloud business."
