Installing a USB RDX driveCAUTION: To prevent improper cooling and thermal damage, do not operate the server unless all bays are populated with either a component or a blank. PrerequisitesBefore you perform this procedure, make sure that you have a T-15 Torx screwdriver available. Procedure Power down the server. Remove all power: Disconnect each power cord from the power source. Disconnect each power cord from the server. Disconnect all peripheral cables from the server. Do one of the following: If the server is in tower mode: Position the tower server for hardware configuration. If the server is in rack mode: Remove the server from the rack. Remove the front bezel. Remove the access panel. If installed, remove the air baffle. Remove the EMI shield. Secure the RDX drive screws. These screws are included in the RDX drive option kit. If you are installing an RDX drive that does not include its own mounting screws, use the media device screws. Slide the RDX drive into the media drive bay until it clicks into place. Connect the drive cables. If removed, install the air baffle. Install the access panel. Install the front bezel. Do one of the following: If the server is in tower mode: Position the tower server for operation. If the server is in rack mode: Install the server on the tray. Connect all peripheral cables to the server. Connect the power cords: Connect each power cord to the server. Connect each power cord to the power source. Power up the server. Perform the verification and configuration procedures required by the drive option. For more information, see the documentation that ships with the drive option. The installation is complete.
