Option 2: Use SUM to create a custom ISO SPP

Prerequisites

  • HPE Passport account.

Procedure
  1. Go to https://www.hpe.com/servers/sum and download SUM.
  2. Go to https://www.hpe.com/servers/spp/download and download the latest Service Pack for ProLiant (SPP) ISO file to a local directory.
  3. Follow instructions in the Smart Update Manager User Guide to create a custom ISO SPP. Select any of the filters you want to use. However, the following filters are required to create a valid custom SPP:

    • Bundle Format: Select Bootable ISO (SUM included).

    • Operating Systems: Select all operating systems in use to perform online firmware and driver updates or online firmware staging. Additionally, select the SLES15 operating system to support the offline firmware boot environment.

    • Devices: Select firmware and drivers as per your managed infrastructure and hypervisors.

    • Server Models: Select at least one of each server generation that is found in your environment, or that is expected to be in your environment.

  4. Add a firmware bundle to the appliance firmware repository. See the online help for more information.
  5. Download the files and follow instructions in Add firmware to the internal appliance firmware repository.
