Edit the properties of a rack

Using the Racks screen, you can edit the properties of a rack (name, thermal limit, serial number, and dimensions) and the layout of the devices in the rack.

NOTE:

Do not edit the Name value of racks discovered when you added an enclosure, the enclosure OA specifies the rack name. Hewlett Packard Enterprise recommends you change the name of these racks using the enclosure OA.

If you change the name of a rack that has its name defined by the enclosure OA, the name will revert the next time the appliance reads the SCMB (State-Change Message Bus).

Prerequisites

Privileges: Infrastructure administrator or Server administrator

Procedure
  1. From the main menu, select FACILITIES > Racks, and do one of the following:
    • In the master pane, select the rack you want to edit and select Actions > Edit

    • Hover your pointer in the details pane and click the Edit icon.

  2. Enter the data requested on the screen.

When you change the rack U height, the rack height is calculated automatically. If your rack height is different from the calculated value, update the height to override the default configuration.

The physical dimensions (height, width, and depth) of the rack are in mm or inches (depending on your browser locale setting). The default width and depth values are based on standard HPE rack sizes.

  3. Change the layout of devices in the rack.
  4. Review your changes, and click OK to apply them.
  5. Verify that your changes have been made in the details pane.
  6. Ensure that the rack is added to a data center.
    NOTE:

Location is not set until you add a rack to the data center.
