Reset a server if the server operating system has become unresponsive.
Prerequisites
- Privileges:
Infrastructure administrator,
Server administrator, or
Server firmware operator
- The enclosure or rack manager, and the hardware are successfully added and are managed by the
HPE OneView appliance.
- The server to be reset is powered on.
Procedure

From the main menu, do one of the following:
- Select
and select a server.
NOTE: On an
HPE Superdome Flex Server or HPE Integrity Superdome X server, you can reset the power of the discovered chassis or blade only if it is part of a partition.
- Select
Server Profiles and select a server profile.
NOTE: Server profile configurations are not supported on HPE Integrity Superdome X servers.

Select the type of reset to perform:
Click
Reset to perform a warm reset that immediately resets the server without removing power and without a graceful operating system shutdown.
Click
Cold boot to perform a hard reset that immediately removes power from the server hardware, and then restarts the server after approximately six seconds.
For
Superdome Flex only, the options are labeled:
NOTE: A
Reset and a
Cold boot or
Power cycle can circumvent any graceful shutdown features the operating system might have.

To verify that the activity is successful, check the activity for a green status in the
Notifications area.
If the activity is not successful, follow the instructions in the proposed resolution.
