Issues related to IPv6 only addressing

Symptom
  • Device monitoring and alerting functions not working for devices with only IPv6 addresses.
  • Tasks fail when trying to use an IPv4 address.

Solution 1
Cause

The HPE OneView appliance is configured with an IPv4 address, even if the appliance also has an IPv6 address.

NOTE:

The only way you can manage a device with only IPv6 addresses is to configure the appliance in IPv6 only networking mode. You can do this configuration only during the first-time appliance setup.

This information does not pertain to Superdome Flex systems.

Action
Add an IPv4 address to your managed device or have the device be managed by a different HPE OneView appliance that is configured in IPv6 only mode.
Solution 2
Cause

Although some user interface dialogs allow you to enter IPv4 addresses, HPE OneView, when configured in IPv6 only mode, cannot send or receive communications to or from devices on an IPv4 network.

Action
Ensure that you are using IPv6 addresses with managed resources when the appliance is configured only for IPv6.
