Attaching a Cable Lug to a Fuse Panel Terminal
Procedure
- Remove the nut and star washer from the terminal block screw.
- Install the cable lug on the block screw.
-
Place the star washer on the block screw, on top of the cable lug.
NOTE:
The order in which you install the star washer and lug on a fuse panel connection is opposite from the order used for ground cable connections:
For ground cable connections, the star washer is closest to the enclosure or grounding rail surface, and the lug is on top of the star washer.
For fuse panel power connections, the cable lug is closest to the terminal block surface, and the star washer is on top of the lug.
- Loosely fasten the nut on the block screw, on top of the star washer.
-
Tighten the nut:
For a TPA terminal, use 8 mm socket driver to tighten the nut to 15 in-lbs (1.7 N-m).
For a GMT terminal, use a Phillips screwdriver, size 2, to tighten the screw to 6 in-lbs (0.68 N-m).
For an input power terminal, use an 11 mm socket driver to tighten the nut to 60 in-lbs (6.8 N-m).
