Installing the serial port cable
Prerequisites
Before you perform this procedure, make sure that:
The M.2 SSD/dedicated iLO/serial port enablement board is installed.
5 mm hex nut screwdriver is available.
Procedure
- Power down the server.

Remove all power:
- Disconnect each power cord from the power source.
- Disconnect each power cord from the server.
- Disconnect all peripheral cables from the server.

Do one of the following:
If the server is in tower mode: Position the tower server for hardware configuration.
If the server is in rack mode: Remove the server from the rack.
- Remove the front bezel.
- Remove the access panel.
- If installed, remove the air baffle.
- Remove the serial port blank.
- Install the serial port.
- Remove the mylar tape.
- Attach the serial port cable clip to the chassis.

Connect the serial port cable to the M.2 SSD/dedicated iLO/serial port enablement board.
To prevent the serial port cable from blocking the system fan airflow, route the cable beneath the fan, and then secure the extra length of the cable in the serial port cable clip.
- If removed, install the air baffle.
- Install the access panel.
- Install the front bezel.

Do one of the following:
If the server is in tower mode: Position the tower server for operation.
If the server is in rack mode: Install the server on the tray.
- Connect all peripheral cables to the server.

Connect the power cords:
- Connect each power cord to the server.
- Connect each power cord to the power source.
- Power up the server.
The installation is complete.
