Installing the M.2 SSD/dedicated iLO/serial port enablement board

Prerequisites
Before you perform this procedure, make sure that you have the following tools available:
  • T-15 Torx screwdriver

  • 4.5 mm hex nut screwdriver

Procedure
  1. Power down the server.
  2. Remove all power:
    1. Disconnect each power cord from the power source.
    2. Disconnect each power cord from the server.
  3. Disconnect all peripheral cables from the server.
  4. Do one of the following:
  5. Remove the front bezel.
  6. Remove the access panel.
  7. If installed, remove the air baffle.
  8. Remove the Phillips screw and the hex nut.

  9. Remove the iLO dedicated network port blank.

  10. Remove the mylar tape.

  11. Install the M.2 SSD/dedicated iLO/serial port enablement board:
    1. Insert the enablement board into the M.2 SSD slot at a 45° angle.
    2. Carefully press the enablement board down to the horizontal position.
    3. Install the enablement board screw.

  12. Install the enablement board stabilizer.

  13. If you intend to install an M.2 SSD on the enablement board, install it now.
  14. If you intend to install the serial port cable, install it now.
  15. If removed, install the air baffle.
  16. Install the access panel.
  17. Install the front bezel.
  18. Do one of the following:
  19. Connect all peripheral cables to the server.
  20. Connect the power cords:
    1. Connect each power cord to the server.
    2. Connect each power cord to the power source.
  21. Power up the server.
  22. If you plan to use the iLO Dedicated Network Port, use the iLO web interface to enable this port.
