CS500 Power Supplies
CS500 models 1211 and 3211 power supplies.
CS500 models 1211 and 3211 power supplies are in a 1+1 redundant power configuration.
- Service Nodes Model 1211
- Two 220VAC 1100W power supplies
- Compute Nodes Model 3211
- Two 220VAC 2130W power supplies
- Power supply units with different wattage ratings
- Installing two power supply units with different wattage or voltage ratings in a CS500 server is not supported. Doing so will not provide power supply redundancy and will result in multiple errors being logged by the system.
The power supply recovers automatically after an AC power failure. AC power failure is defined to be any loss of AC power that exceeds the dropout criteria.
The power supplies have over-temperature protection (OTP) circuits that protect the power supplies against high temperature conditions caused by loss of fan cooling or excessive chassis/ambient temperatures. In an OTP condition, the power supplies will shut down. Power supplies restore automatically when temperatures drop to specified limits, while the 12VSB always remains on.
The server has a throttling system to prevent the system from crashing if a power supply module is overloaded or over heats. If server system power reaches a preprogrammed limit, system memory and/or processors are throttled back to reduce power. System performance is impacted if this occurs.
Power Supply Fans
Each installed power supply module includes embedded (non-removable) 40mm fans. They are responsible for airflow through the power supply module. These fans are managed by the fan control system. Should a fan fail, the power supply shuts down.
