Update the profile configuration from the server profile template

You can use Update from template to update the configuration of the server profile to make it consistent with its parent server profile template.
To bring an inconsistent (Inconsistent with template) server profile configuration back into consistency (Consistent) with the server profile template, you must reapply the settings from the server profile template either manually or automatically. Some server profile updates can be automatically performed when the server hardware is powered on and some updates can only be performed when the server hardware is powered off. You can now defer the automatic updates until the next hardware maintenance window or cancel them if you do not want to proceed with the updates.
IMPORTANT: The option to defer automatic updates until later is applicable only when the server hardware is powered off through HPE OneView and not from the front panel or the iLO web interface.
Prerequisites

  • Privileges: Infrastructure administrator or Server administrator

  • At least one automatic server profile compliance update is required.

Procedure
  1. From the main menu, select SERVERS > Server Profiles.
  2. You can perform the Update from template operation while the server hardware is powered off or on.
    • When the server hardware is powered off:

      1. Select Actions > Update from template.

      2. Click Yes, update.

        The Update from template status is displayed on the banner. While the updates are in progress, the server hardware is powered on and is powered off once the updates are completed.

    • When the server hardware is powered on:

      1. Select Actions > Update from template.

      2. Some updates require the server to be powered off. You can defer the update by selecting Stage automatic updates from template to occur when <server hardware_name> is powered off via OneView and click OK.

        If the update is deferred, the status of the Server Profile Template field changes from Inconsistent to Staged update pending power off and the power off dialog will display the status update. For more information, see Power off a server.

  3. Select Actions > Power On.
  4. Verify that your changes are reflected in the details pane.
  5. To cancel the update from template operation, click Actions > Cancel staged update from template.
  6. Click Yes, Cancel.
