Add a rack server for monitoring or management

Use the Add Server Hardware screen to bring HPE ProLiant rack servers under monitoring or management of the appliance.

Prerequisites

Privileges: Infrastructure administrator or Server administrator

iLO account with administrator user account privileges

Review Prerequisites for bringing server hardware into an appliance.

Procedure

From the main menu, select SERVERS > Server Hardware, and do one of the following:
- Click + Add server hardware in the master pane.
- Select Actions > Add.
In the Add Server Hardware screen, provide the iLO IP addresses or host names.
Supply the iLO IP address or host name of the iLO management processor. If you want to add multiple servers, enter a list of names or IP addresses, or one of more IP address ranges.
NOTE:
- No more than 1024 IP addresses and host names are processed at a time.
- For ranges of IP addresses, only IPv4 addresses are accepted. The ranges of IP addresses may include non-iLO devices, previously added addresses, or unused addresses.
- When you specify a range of addresses, separate the start and end address with a hyphen.
- Entries in the list can be on separate lines, or separated with commas or spaces.
- If you are prevented from adding the rack server, you can forcibly add the server.
Select Managed or Monitored and enter the data requested on the screen.
Supply the username and password for an iLO account that has ‘administrator user accounts’ privileges.
Choose Add or Add+.
Verify that the server is added in the master pane.

If you add multiple servers using the Add Server Hardware screen, multisystem discovery runs in the background. Only one discovery task runs at a time, but single servers are still added while a discovery task is running. Use the Activity screen to view the servers being added.

During a mass import or refresh of server hardware, HPE OneView performs a staged power on of servers to avoid a sudden load on the power supply.
