Remove and install the server blade

IMPORTANT:

If the base unit (system board) is being replaced, save the memory DIMMs, processor and heatsink module, mezzanine card. You will need to reinstall them in the new base unit. Keep track of the location of the saved FRUs and install them in the same slots on the new base unit.

Procedure
  1. Read Cautions and notes, and perform the steps in Prepare for installation.
  2. See the documentation listed in for removal and installation instructions.
    TIP:

Skip any steps in the documentation related to hard drives, Trusted Platform Module (TPM), NAND flash module, and Flash Back Write Cache (FBWC); these components are not used on the NonStop server blade.

  3. Visually check the power state of the installed server blade.

After you install the server blade into the enclosure, the server blade may automatically power on (power LED is green) or remain on standby (power LED is amber).

Make a note of the server blade LED state (powered on or standby). You will need this information when you complete the post-installation configuration.

  4. Once the server blade is installed, verify that the blade appears in the OA web browser interface with a status of OK. If the server blade does not appear in the OA web browser interface, see the applicable ProLiant BL460c Server Blade Maintenance and Service Guide.
