Create a volume

Prerequisites

  • Privileges: Infrastructure administrator or Storage administrator.

  • You have added at least one storage system.

  • You have added at least one storage pool.

  • If you are planning to use volume sets with HPE Nimble Storage, all volume sets (referred to as "data protection volume collections") must be defined on the HPE Nimble Storage system using the administration console.

Procedure
  1. From the main menu, select STORAGE > Volumes, and do one of the following:

    • Click + Create volume in the master pane.

    • Select Actions > Create.

    NOTE:

    The Actions menu is not present until you create at least one volume.

  2. Enter the data requested on the screen.
    You can restrict the use of any selected volume set by also selecting an authorization scope.
    NOTE: If you have create permissions that are restricted by scope, you must assign resources to one or more restrictive scopes to manage a resource.
  3. Click Create to complete the action or click Create + to create another volume.
  4. Verify that the volume is created in the master pane.

After you create a volume, you can attach it to a server profile.
