Adding server hardware
Rack servers are added by selecting Add Server Hardware from the Server Hardware screen. If the rack server is part of an HPE Composable Rack solution, HPE OneView discovers the rack servers that are connected to the server access ports of rack connectivity modules through Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP) data. For more information, see Autodiscovery and addition of rack servers that are part of the HPE Composable Rack solution.
When you add the rack server, you can specify whether you want the server to be monitored or managed. You can also add multiple rack servers by using ranges of IP addresses. For more information, see Add a rack server.
Server blades are automatically added to HPE OneView when the enclosure they are in is added. You cannot add a blade server without adding the whole enclosure. Server blades that are added to managed enclosures are automatically added to HPE OneView as managed server hardware. For more information, see Add server hardware to managed enclosures.
An HPE Superdome Flex Server is added to HPE OneView during the addition of a rack manager, and it is added to HPE OneView as monitored server hardware. For more information, see Add a rack manager.
As server hardware is added, HPE OneView automatically assigns a server hardware type based on the server hardware model and the adapters installed on the server hardware. Server profiles and server profile templates are associated with the server hardware type. For more information, see Server Hardware Types.
